I am sure that you will have heard that the Government has announced that their five tests have been met and that therefore schools can being to open for children in certain year groups from next week.
You will be aware that I sent information to parents about the arrangements for your child to return to school before the half term break and I can therefore now confirm that we will be following the plans that I set out at that time. This means that children in nursery, Year R and Year 1 are eligible to return to school on Tuesday 2nd June 2020. I have uploaded the letters to the school website and you can find these on the same page as the links to home learning:
There are some key points that I need to share with you, as follows:
We are currently working through the new guidance on benefits based Free School Meals, which has been published today. We will be working towards introducing a system of providing a packed lunch for children who are not in school and who are entitled to benefits based Free School Meals, which parents will be able to collect from the school each day. This system will replace the current system of providing supermarket vouchers to families.
This remains a very difficult situation for everyone and I hope that by giving you as much information as possible you will feel able to make an informed decision about whether or not your child will be returning to school on 2nd June. It is not compulsory for your child to return to school – this decision is yours to make. The plans that we have in place will enable us to welcome all children in nursery, Year R and Year 1 into school on Tuesday 2nd June, but from conversations that have already taken place, we are aware that it is highly unlikely that all parents will choose for their children to return on this day. I would like to reassure you that if you make the decision that Tuesday 2nd June is not the right time for your child to return but that you decide a few weeks later that the time is right for your child to return to school, that is absolutely fine and we will be delighted to welcome your child back to Acorn Academy at that time. If you decide that your child is not returning to school on 2nd June, it would be very much appreciated if you could send the school a short e-mail to let us know as soon as you have made your decision. If we have not heard from you and your child is not in school, we will call you on Tuesday 2nd June to make sure that your child is safe.
I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this ever-changing time.
Mrs C. J. Jaques
